Sumario:Cuban director Tomás Gutiérrez Alea’s film Fresa y chocolate appears under the shape of a coming of age narrative in which not only a young communist, David, opens up to the socio-politico-cultural space of marginality, but where his teacher, Diego, also learns, on the contrary, the difficult exercise of the tolerance he defended by practicing it only to a certain extent. The objective of this key movie of the 90s is clear: in this testamentary work, the film-maker who had defended the Cuban Revolution during all his life, demonstrates that any dialogue is based on a double phenomenon of learning, the only way allowing to rethink the Cuban identity at the end of the XXth century and to start on the path of reconciliation.
