Sumario: | Physical education course, especially in the 19th century, has begun to show improvement in schools and has been one of the courses which is given a separate importance by states in general. While physical education course was called as terbiyei bedeniye, gymnastics, physical education in Ottoman period, it was called as gymnastics and physical education in Republician Turkey.. Wheras the course was unscientific and it focused on physical development and power in the Ottoman Empire, it came into being as having the same function in the Republician Turkey.
