This is done on the basis of the concepts of apparent, superficial, authoritarian and real communication, both in order to offer a critique of the prevailing models of news production and to propose possibilities of interaction with more democratic and effective communication models. The article concludes that journalists working in both functions have the task of contributing to reduce the gap that divides those who have and those who dont have access to information, but that they can only carry it out if they are open to look at the world in its complexity and by interacting with other forms of knowledge.Cidoval Morais de SousaUniversidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS)articlejournalismdemocracycomplexitySocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99PTCiências Sociais Unisinos, Vol 43, Iss 2, Pp 149-156 (2007) |

This paper discusses some factors that put pressure on the practice of journalism in two
different cases, viz. the journalist who works as a press agent and the journalist who
works as a newsperson. This is done on the basis of the concepts of apparent, superficial,
authoritarian and real communication, both in order to offer a critique of the prevailing
models of news production and to propose possibilities of interaction with more democratic
and effective communication models. The article concludes that journalists working in
both functions have the task of contributing to reduce the gap that divides those who
have and those who dont have access to information, but that they can only carry it out
if they are open to look at the world in its complexity and by interacting with other forms
of knowledge. |
