The management of littoral risks has to articulate with the delicate balance between galloping urbanization and protection of the littoral ecosystems. It is interesting to note that the Madrid Protocol on Integrated Coastal Zone Management of 2008 had clearly identified the principles to guide a shared and sustainable management of coastline: long-term consideration of the sea level rise, anticipation of the phenomenon and implementation of process of dialogue between stakeholders.
