Sumario:The article examines the current state of the normative legal base for the national security of the Russian. Provides an overview of the main normative-legal acts, introduces the author’s interpretation of the terms: “security”, “national security”. Goal: based on the analysis of the formation and evolution of the regulatory framework of the Russian Federation to determine whether the last character of challenges and threats in global and national security. Methodology: a systematic approach, expert analysis of textual documentary information, compilation and systematization of statistical data, comparative analysis. Results: the developed author’s definition of “security” and “national security”, traces the evolution of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of national security, which has undergone certain qualitative changes, ranging from attempts to denote challenges and threats in the 90-ies of the twentieth century to the normative-legal acts, covering the whole range of contemporary issues in global and national security. The scope of the results: the activities of state institutions that ensure the protection of national interests of Russia in the modern world.
