The article contains a detailed critical analysis of the interpretations of the topic introduced by leading Pushkin scholars: Boris Modzalevsky, Mstislav Tsiavlovsky, Grigorii Vinokur, Vadim Vatsuro, Sergei Fomichev, and Yanina Levkovich.
