Stammering is affected by several factors including physiological, psychological and neurological causes. Research findings show that in addition to psychological measures environmental factors, are important in treatment of stammering. One of the factors affecting the student most is the teacher. Teachers’ attitude towards stammering affect the students, too. The aim of this research is to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure the attitudes of teachers toward stammering students. The validity and reliability studies of the scale was carried out on 273 teachers working in Malatya province. The content validity of the scale was tested through expert and teacher views. The construct validity of the scale was tested using exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analysis. Internal consistency coefficients and test-retest coefficients were estimated for the reliability studies. As a result of the EFA and CFA analyses, a scale with 14 items under academic failure, awareness and isolation subscales was developed. Teachers develop positive attitudes considering these sub dimensions. The three factor scale explains 48.251 % of the total variance. The reliability analysis of the scale revealed internal consistency coefficients of .712 for academic failure, .784 for awareness, and .753 for isolation subscales.İlhan ERDEMFırat Universityarticlestammeringturkish language teachingteacher attitudescale developmentSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 6, Iss 22, Pp 401-416 (2021)
