We designate a lectotype and provide a detailed description of the species, as well as an illustration and floristic information about its habitat at the type locality.<br>Después de 125 años, Gentianella tarapacana (Gilg) T.N. Ho & S.W. Liu (Gentianaceae) fue redescubierta en su localidad tipo, Amincha (Región de Antofagasta, Provincia El Loa; 21°12'S; 68°20'W, 3.850 m). La especie es endémica del altiplano chileno y crece en los bofedales.
