Sumario:Assuming that “becoming a Christian” is the fundamental theme of S. Kierkegaard’s literary production, the purpose of this essay is to outline the concept of passion set forth in Fear and Trembling as a necessary condition for the realization of the dialectical movements that make possible the development of faith. On the basis of Abraham’s demonstration of faith, the article highlights the importance granted by Johannes de Silentio to passion as the foundation that precedes and constitutes the ultimate faith: that which arises only in the face of the absurd, but which, once attained, reveals itself as a possibility of escaping from the desperation of existence and of giving meaning to human life.
