Sumario: | Medical devices used for the purpose of imaging contribute to doctors in the process of identification, diagnosis and treatment. Especially in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of medical devices used for the purpose of imaging; this situation leading to increase in the cost of health care services. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate whether the capacity usage rates and the usage share per device of medical devices used for the purpose of imaging in hospitals connected to General Secretaries of Public Hospitals Association in Turkey show any difference according to service areas. The data used to determine the capacity usage rates and the usage share per device has been obtained from Public Hospitals Statistical Yearbook 2014 published by Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health Public Hospitals Foundation. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) have been included within the scope of assessment from among the medical devices used for the purpose of imaging as a target to the aim of this study. According to the findings obtained from the study, it is seen that the capacity usage rates of MRI device and both the capacity usage rates and the usage share per device of CT device constitute a significant difference according to service areas. It is discovered that this difference that has emerged has been derived from the first service area. As a result, while it is seen that the capacity usage rates and the usage shares per device of MRI and CT devices in Turkey are low; capacity usage rates of devices and the usage share per device of CT device differ among service areas. It is thought that the results obtained from the study will provide important evidence based information in the decision making of medical devices used for the purpose of imaging. |
