Sumario:The author of the article takes us to the world of Martha Nussbaum, one of the most important and controversial feminist personalities of philosophy nowadays, using the interview “Who Needs Philosophy?”, by Robert S. Boyton. Unlike many intellectuals, Nussbaum is not satisfied with studying just one particular period or thinker, nor does she want to be a mere theoretical philosopher. Her idea of a better world is one in which philosophy has relevance as a practical, intellectual tool to improve mankind, a world in which everyone is equal and has the right to choose his or her way of life. Despite being the target of a lot of criticism, Nusbaum is determined to achieve her ideal of a “practical philosophy”.
