Sumario:This study was carried out so as to determine how classroom teacher trainees perceive Ataturk’s principles, which shows the philosophy and underlying structure of Turkish Republic, as a metaphor. The present study was carried out on 176 teacher trainees comprised of freshmen and senior students from Department of Elementary Education, Classroom Teaching Department, Gazi Faculty of Education at Gazi University during 2010-2011 academic year. The participants were given some concepts related to Ataturk’s principles and asked to write a metaphor about these concepts. The obtained data were analyzed by using content analysis, which is one of the quantitative research methods. As a result of study. İt is found of that classroom teacher trainees could not define and comprehend of Ataturk’s Principles, metaphors.
