Strategic federal programs in the sphere of education have been identified, which are being implemented at the present time. The main goals of educational development programs have been identified. The interaction of strategies for socio-economic development and programs for the development of education was noted. Attention is focused on the population at the age of 1-29 years of the North-West Federal District as potential consumers of educational services. Regional programs for the development of education and their possible expert evaluation at the federal level are described.
