Summary:Storm Xynthia went through Europe impacting Charente and Vendée coastlines during the night of 27 to 28 February 2010. This disaster highlighted that coastlines urbanization was undercontrolled, inconsistent with rules of law and common sense. As an answer and in order to prevent it from happening again, emergency measures were implemented and the government has relaunched existing tools. Law proposals and bills were also registered but have not yet been adopted. This paper focus on analyzing the whole legal consequences of storm Xynthia on positive and prospective law.
