The Departments of Hispanic Studies have recently developed an interest in the study and recovery of the Sephardic Conversos past, silenced or simply forgotten for a long time. In this paper I will present my own experience as a teacher and a researcher of this particular genre of literature; in particular, I will focus on two aspects: the didactics and the research. The aim is to propose a debate on the importance of this topic in the academic field from an educational point of view; furthermore, I suggest a reflection on the interrelation between educational purposes and research freedom.
