Sumario:The literary canon has recently been accused but, in spite of everything, it continues to resist. One example is the Italian canon abroad, i.e. the list of emerging Italian authors as authorized figures in the literature, culture and education of non-Italians of the 20th century. The hegemony of Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Ariosto, Tasso, Machiavelli, Vico and Pirandello abroad is examined from their diffusion in educational programs, in translations and in their influence on foreign writers.
