Sumario: | BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Time management is one of the most important skills in learning activities. So that in some of the studies time management has been mentioned as one of the most effective factors affecting academic achievement. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between time management skills and academic achievement in nursing and public health students.
METHODS: This is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study. This study was performed on 243 of nursing and public health students during the academic year 2016- 2017. Samples were selected by convenience sampling.Tesser time management questionnaire was used to measure students’ time management skills. Data were analyzed with SPSS 24, using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test and ANOVA. In all statistical tests, p <0.05 was considered as significant.
FINDINGS: Results showed a significant correlation between time management skills and academic achievement in students (p=0.0001). According to the study, there was a statistically significant relationship between time management skills with gender, age, education level, housing, the enthusiasm for education (p<0.05). But the relationship between marital status, field of study with time management skills was not significant (p>0.05).
CONCLUSION: In this study, time management skills has affected the students' academic achievement but students' time management skills was almost desirable. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade students' time management workshops to be held. |
