Sumario: | The tourism sector is the driving force of the national economies as well as regional development. Revenues obtaining from tourism have important role to decrease foreign debt, current account deficit and unemployment. Şanlıurfa is a city rich in terms of historical and cultural values, despite the fact that tourism activity has not reached to desired level. The objective of the study is to collect data from foreign tourists who visit Şanlıurfa for cultural aspects where there is enough potential supply for visitors. Research questionnaire designed to be used within the scope of foreign visitors coming to Şanlıurfa. The research has been conducted with 338 questionnaires by face to face for this survey. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS 15.0. Tourists’ demographic (age, gender, occupation, marital status, number of visitors) geographic (where they came from), psychological (purpose of visit, type of visit, number of countries visited, type of visitors) and socio- economic (income, education level, type of transportations, amount of expenditure) distinguishing features are attempted to determine. In addition to that the perception of tourists about cultural heritages is intended to reveal. For this point, 5 points Likert scale questionnaire was conducted. There are significant relationships between the continent of visitors where they come and income level, income level and number of countries visited, with income levels and frequency of visits. In addition, a high percentage of foreign tourists’ sensitivity to cultural heritage was determined. In future, scientific studies on this subject can be included in the analysis requirements of domestic tourists too. |
