Sumario:Two articles of Maria da Conceição Tavares ("The North American Hegemonic Returns" and "Empire, Territory and Money") have inspired this article. Based on them, this paper focuses on the return of north-american hegemony of the last 80’s and 90’s, showing their main spatials expressions in Brazil. It is argued that in the present conditions, the "commitment deals" are being broken up between the Empire’s interest (North-America) and some social actors (regional oligarchies, urban and country landowners). This process is taking place on a social tissue which is becoming more complex, due to the strengthens -in the city an country places- of some forces oriented against the secular domination game, that prevails over the country. In conclusion, the new dependence, that interlaces -in the country- local and worldwide money both internal and problematically, besides public finances, not only erodes the secular domination pact, but also promotes a new encounter between Brazilian nation and it’s own territory
