Sumario:The number of radiocarbon dates associated with the Tiwanaku state has grown through the years, and there are more than 130 published 14C determinations. In this paper radiocarbon dates from different regions of the Tiwanaku culture area were collected, described, calibrated and analyzed. The results have been compared with existing chronological frameworks and various existing theories on the nature and development of the Tiwanaku state. Calibrated sets of 14C dates and their related cultural contexts show that phases Tiwanaku I, II and III overlap; and that Tiwanaku IV and V partially overlap. Calibration of sets, combined with geographical origin show the main period of Tiwanaku activity falling under the second half of the first millennium, but differences are found in particular areas of influence
