Avaliação in vitro dos fungos Aspergillus flavus e Penicillium corylophilum em adultos de Musca domestica (Diptera: Muscidae)

The aim of the present paper was to evaluate the effects of two isolates of Aspergillus flavus and two isolates of Penicillium corylophilum on adults of Musca domestica. The samples tested were isolated directly from M. domestica specimens. Adult flies were obtained from pupas of a laboratory colony...

Musca domestica biological control Penicillium corylophilum Aspergillus flavus The aim of the present paper was to evaluate the effects of two isolates of Aspergillus flavus and two isolates of Penicillium corylophilum on adults of Musca domestica. The samples tested were isolated directly from M. domestica specimens. Adult flies were obtained from pupas of a laboratory colony. After hatching from pupa, 4 groups with 10 young adults each were formed for each one of the conidia suspensions tested (10<A HREF="#5">5</A>to 10<A HREF="#8">8</A> conidia/ml). 2,5 ml of solution was sprayed on each batch. Two control groups were made: one treated with spreading adhesive and other with no treatment at all. Adult insects were sensitive to treatments with these fungi isolates, mainly to those with higher conidia concentration. One of the A. flavus isolates killed 100% of flies on third day after treatment. The two P. corylophilum isolates killed 100% of flies seven days after treatment. The death rates were slower in the groups with smaller conidia concentrations, with death occurring up to the 15th day after treatment. Fungi were re isolated from dead flies.info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSociedad Chilena de ParasitologíaParasitología latinoamericana v.57 n.1-2 20022002-01-01text/htmlhttp://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0717-77122002000100004pt10.4067/S0717-77122002000100004
