A quantum-mechanical interpretation of the electronic transitions for the free and coordinated ligand in the Ni(II) complex was performed using EHT-MO approach in order to get more information about the atoms involved in coordination to the metallic ion. According to all this information, we propose an octahedral geometry for Fe(II) and Co(II) complexes, a square-planar geometry for Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes and a tetrahedral geometry for Zn(II) complex. The antibacterial activity of the ligand and its complexes was studied against selected bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
