Although males of these species can morphologically be separated, the holotype of P. bipunctatus resembles a juvenile, consequently, a categorical taxonomic distinction between this species and P. chilensis will require a comparative morphological study of the preadult stages of the latter species. A distributional checklist and host of the Pinnotheridae recorded for the Peru-Chile region is included, along with a list and the taxonomic status of the five genera and 53 species of Crustacea described by Hercule Nicolet in the "Physical and Political History of Chile".info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
