This case study therefore applies a phenomenological approach aimed at analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of the hybrid education delivered at a foundation university in Gaziantep, Turkey by examining the views of both students and faculty members. Semi-structured focus group interview questions were prepared by the researchers following the literature and expert views. As well as SWOT questions, further questions were added to highlight the major experiences of the participants, 22 students from three departments in the Education Faculty and six faculty members. The data was collected on the Zoom platform through focus group interviews. The meetings were recorded, and transcribed word by word. Content analysis was applied to analyze the transcribed data. The main findings reveal that the majority of students are more motivated in face-to-face classes, especially in this chaotic period, as they have the chance to get out of their home and meet their friends while attending classes. In addition, faculty members highlighted difficulties in coordinating face-to-face and online participants. The results of the research showed similarities with the studies in the literature on hybrid teaching and also revealed results that will shed light on future studies.Şeyma YILDIRIMBüşra Nur DURMAZFatma ÇİLOĞLAN KONURFeyza DOYRANFırat Universityarticlehybrid educationpandemicswot analysishigher educationSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 14, Iss 86, Pp 1-20 (2021) |
