In the study three different translations of Gustave Flaubert’s Trois Contes printed in 1877 were analyzed in terms of cover, the classifying styles of the chapters and the language used. The Three Stories consists of A Pure Heart, The Legend of Hospitable St. Julien and Herodias. As determining the language used in the translations, some sentences from the original text were selected and compared to the ones in the three different translation copies. Then, the extent of the relationships was determined. The sentences were evaluated according to general translation strategies and Gideon Toury’s goal centered translation theory. In the findings section of the study, the analyses of pre-process norms, translation process norms and the work titled The Three Stories were made. According to the findings, the three translators used strategies such as domestication, alienation, historicization, imitation, translocation, alteration, generalization, separation, addition, borrowing and derogation. In conclusion, as the text evaluated from the closest (sufficient translation) to the furthest (acceptable translation), Translation 1 and Translation 2 were found to be acceptable because of the proximity of the target text to the language and the culture. Translation 3 was found to be sufficient because the target text was much closer to the language and the culture.
