Description
Summary:In my dissertation I addressed the colla indigenou’s emergence in the Quebrada de Humahuaca during the 1990’s, analyzing the political and cultural representation’s disputes, and the collective memories and agencies involved. The central argument of the thesis, which was developed on the case of the Comunidad Aborigen Kolla de Finca Tumbaya, was that the indigenous-colla’s emergency processes responded to events of long and short duration. First, the appeal to the "history of dispossession" of the colonial communitie’s lands, with the social elaboration of other recent experiences of land expropriation in narratives that I called "memorias arrenderas”. Second, the chronicles about the extinction of the indigenous quebradeños, with the contradictory preservation of collective identification’s aboriginalizazed marks. Finally, the agency of state and religious officials, scientifics and intellectuals that legitimized the colla’s emergency process, installing ethnic, racial and social brands and tropes of classification.
