The relationships between certain different demographic characteristics of employees and the above-mentioned two concepts were included in analysis, too. In the simplest sense, fear refers to a sense of agitation or a state of alertness resulting from an existing or an immediate danger while decision-making means making a choice in the most rational manner. International literature contains studies concerning the above-mentioned two concepts. Turkish literature, however, contains studies only about decision-making. Thus, this study analyzed the relationship between two concepts with the thought that its results would contribute to both international literature and Turkish literature. Research sample consisted of the employees of two private hospitals operating in Adana. 300 questionnaire forms were distributed to employees. 132 of those questionnaire forms were returned. Thus, the ratio of return of questionnaires was 44%. The present study covered two private hospitals because other hospitals did not give permission on the grounds that the problematic of the study involved the concept of fear. In the present study, fear was found to have no effect on making defective decisions. However, some relationships were found between the demographic characteristics of employees and the sub-dimensions of fear they experienced and the defective decisions they made. The present study was significant in that it revealed the relationships between demographic characteristics and the sub-dimensions of fear and making defective decisions.Ufuk ORHANKubilay ÖZYERFırat Universityarticlefeardefective decision makinghealth sector.Social SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 6, Iss 23, Pp 719-736 (2019)
