Sumario:FACTORS INFLUENCING EXPORT STRATEGY OF THE FIRMAbstractExport strategy of the firm is a instrument that allows firm entry in foreign markets and it’s mainlyresponsible for firms success in the foreign market. However, there are some factors that influencethese strategies like firm specific advantages and export market features. This paper aims to understandwhat and how internal and external environmental factors impact on firms export strategies. As aliterature review, it was possible to identify that existing market factors influence the implementationand success of firm export strategies. Identified factors are related to home market characteristics, such as market concentration, exchange rate policies and government programs, characteristicsof the host market, including environmental regulatory constraints, economic and socio-culturalfeatures of consumers. On the other hand, firms specific attributes, as production capacity, stage ofinternationalization, experience, size and technology levels, are able to boost or limit firm ability toexport, directly impacting on their strategies. It was conclude that the literature on export strategiesis not fully consolidated yet and there is room for full development of new theories that explainthe dynamism and flexibility of the firms as well as the market influences in firms strategies, whileoperating in international markets.
